Security Lab participates in courses at all levels. To see a summary of these, visit the Security Roadmap. It is our aim to run the core courses, Computer Security I (CS461 / ECE422) and Computer Security II (CS463 / ECE424), each semester with the teaching alternating between the CS and ECE departments. The CS versions of these courses are available to I2CS students.
If you would like to participate in research with the lab we recommend that you start by taking Computer Security II. If you are a PhD program with some background in security, also consider Advanced Computer Security. This course does not yet have an approved number at UIUC (it is under review as CS563 / ECE 524), so it is usually taught as a CS598 course.
Students are invited to visit the lab project pages, where they will find, for each project, a list of our papers and a recommended reading list of related papers by others. There are sometimes also materials like streaming videos of lectures on the topics that you can watch.
